Kano's Room

Kano lay in the bed, his wounds had become worse, the dressing on the wounds had to be changed every 5 minutes.
"He'll pull through," the doctor had said as he left the room.

Nana stood by Kano's bed. She let out a sigh of relief.
"You better wake up soon... We have to get Kiki out of this village... And soon..."

Kano's one good eye snapped open, the other was swollen shut.
"Nana?"
He tried to move but fell back on to the bed.
"Ow! Son of a-"
The doctor came back in, "We have to evaccuate the town, a fire has started in the forest, ands it's a big one!"

Nana picked up Kano carefully and placed him over her shoulder.
"How far does the fire go?"

Kano winced.
"Not so rough! Play nice!"

The doctor replied, "It is moving fairly fast, I'd say it will reach the town in under an hour."

Kano spoke again, "Let's book it. This place will be a burning pile of sticks in a bit. And if Kitsune finds us..." He trailed off.

Nana nodded.
"It's your choice Kano, play nice and take more time or get out of here as quickly as possible."
'At least Kiki will be safe in Osami... For now...'

"I like option 2, let's get the hell out of here!" Kano looked out the window from on Nana's shoulder.
"The fire's coming right this way, that bastard can probably smell us..."

Kitsune wandered towards the hospital from the forest. There was a subtle shift in the wind.
"Kiki's not with them? Hmph."
He took another sniff.
'She'll probably be heading home. That's the safest place she knows.'
Kitsune turned and headed for Osami. The fire still drew closer to Kyoshi.

The two of them rushed outside to find a bunch of mages using magic to get large quantities of water from the river to the fire.
"They seem to have the fire contained but not controlled."
She placed Kano down.
"From the looks of it we don't have to evacuate."

"No, I need a crutch. I can trust my natural healing ability to handle everything else. I'm going to Osami to check on things. Any one want to come along?"
Kano coughed.
"Uggh, I think we should all go..."

"Well I think you should wait here and relax. I can go check out Osami."

"How's about no. If something's wrong you'll need me there."
Most of his bleeding had stopped, and his eye had healed.
"Now, will we be going soon?"

"Seriously Kano, the last thing that you should be doing is wandering around. You should just relax."

"I'm better now. I could probably outrun you all. Look, I've even stopped bleeding. Can we go now!? I have a VERY bad feeling about Kiki, OK?!"

Nana nodded.
"You're right we should go check on Kiki."
Just as she said that an old man who was walking by stopped and turned.
"How do you know Kiki?"
The old man caught Nana off gaurd.
"Uhh, we're friends of her's. Who are you?"
The old man smiled.
"I'm Kiki's grandpa."

"Hello. I'm Kano, this is Nana. We're looking for Kiki, we parted company some time ago, I hope she didn't run into Kitsune. He's acting a little funny."
Kano tried to appear friendly.

Grandpa's face apeared worried after he said that,
"Well, as a matter of fact..."
Nana ran out of the hospital.
"Crap!"

Kano followed.
"I think we're in trouble.... If Kitsune.....We have to stop him!"

"Well no duh! My guess is they're in Kuroyoto. Do I need to explain my logic or can we just leave?"
She didn't turn to face Kano while she talked to him. As she ran through the hospital she pushed doctors, nurses and patients alike out of the way.

"I'll meet you there."
Kano was no longer behind her, seeming to vanish into thin air.
